PREPARATION FOR YOUR COLONOSCOPY

5 DAYS PRIOR to your procedure STOP TAKING blood thinners (Coumdain, Plavix, Ticlid, Agrylin). Be certain that you take all heart and high blood pressure medication (EXCEPT aspirin or thinners) the morning of the procedure with a sip of water. If you have a history of asthma or breathing problems, please use any inhalers as prescribed the morning of the procedure. TYLENOL is OK to take prior for pain or headache.

For DIABETIC PATIENTS please follow the diabetic instruction sheet.

4 DAYS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
Fill prescription from your doctor for 32 OsmoPrep tablets.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DAY BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
You will be on clear liquids only, no solid foods or milk products. NO RED OR PURPLE LIQUIDS. Remain close to toilet facilities.

First Regimen

Take 4 tablets of OsmoPrep at 2pm with 8 ounces of clear liquid. Repeat every 15 minutes for a total of 20 tablets.

Second Regimen
Take 4 tablets of OsmoPrep at 5pm with 8 ounces of clear liquid. Repeat every 15 minutes for a total of 12 tablets.

***Patients should not take OsmoPrep Tablets who have impaired renal function or congestive heart failure

Clear Liquids
The following are examples of clear liquids. You may have as much of these for meals while preparing for the exam. Please avoid red or purple colored liquids. Sugar, sweetener, and lemon are allowed. No milk, cream, pulpy juices and red or purple liquids are permitted.

Do NOT eat or drink anything after midnight. Do NOT eat or drink anything on the morning of your procedure.
